Made From Effort

The person behind the work

Gym design starts with understanding how people train.

I'm Scott Schratwieser, founder of Performance Edge Training + Gym Design and the voice behind Made From Effort.

My background is in coaching. I started training in 2010 and spent nearly a decade at Equinox, including time as a Master Instructor. I hold the CSCS credential and continue to coach private clients. That work shapes how I approach gym design: equipment is only one part of a room. The layout, circulation, storage, finishes, lighting, and relationship to the rest of a property all affect whether a space supports the way someone intends to use it.

Performance Edge is based on Long Island, New York. The firm plans private home gyms across Nassau and Suffolk counties and accepts select projects elsewhere, including yacht and marine spaces, commercial gyms, boutique studios, and country-club fitness facilities. Coaching is a separate service from design.

A trainer's eye, applied to the room

Made From Effort is where I share project context and practical ideas about gym design and training. Portfolio pages identify whether a project is complete, in progress, or a design study. The Journal adds perspective, but a project still needs its own brief, site information, and professional review. I don't treat one room or equipment list as a universal template.
